From a practical standpoint, this can be a wasteful and foolish venture. What fun is a box stock vanilla AR though? Sure you don't need 4 axes of adjustment on the stock, you don't need 62 inches of picatinny rail, you don't need 3 redundant sight systems. You don't need a barrel that can survive 800 rds of continuous full auto fire. You don't even need to color coordinate the gun's furniture to match the changing foliage of the season.
